Karnataka officials seek help from NSI for sugar industry

Kanpur: A delegation comprising Karnataka state officials has urged the National Sugar Institute, Kanpur to help the state to develop sugarcane industry, reports The Times of India.

A delegation of government officials along with the scientists of S Nijalingappa Sugar Institute, Belgavi, Karnataka visited the NSI on Thursday to seek assistance.

Professor Narendra Mohan, Director, National Sugar Institute assured the delegates to provide all the possible help to the state.

He said, “We will also explore possibilities for short term training programmes for technical personnel from Karnataka Sugar Factories.”

Ashok Patil, vice president of, Governing council, S Nijalingappa Sugar Institute said, “We need the help of NSI to re-structure S Nijalingappa Sugar Institute and increase the productivity of sugar mills in the state. The sugarcane yield from South and North Karnataka is different and with the help of NSI we hope that it would be possible for us to bridge the same.”
