Kalaburagi: Farmers under the banner of the Sugarcane Growers Association have demanded that the sugar mills should fix the sugarcane purchase price for the ongoing crushing season.
Addressing a press conference on Thursday, Jagdish Patil, president of the Association said that the district administration should convene a meeting of the sugar mill officials and sugarcane growers immediately and direct the mills to fix the price of sugarcane.
Farmer association said that if the administration fail to act on our demand by November 15, then the sugarcane growers along with farmers from across the district will picket the Deputy Commissioner’s office here on November 17, The Hindu has reported.
