Mysuru: As the number of coronavirus infected patients is increasing, the Karnataka Sugarcane Growers Association has urged the state government to declare a health emergency to keep a check on the spread of the disease and reduce the death rate.
The statement issued by the Association President Shanthakumaran Kuruburu states that the government should take control of the private hospitals as they are ignoring the government’s orders.
The number of deaths is increasing because of delay in treatment and shortage of beds. The rural people are not being treated properly by the private hospitals and are always informed that there is a shortage of oxygen and ventilators, he said.
He urged the government to take a decision to waive the loan repayment payment of the deceased patient in any hospital. Farmers should be protected by a minimum support price due to a decline in prices for farmers’ agricultural products he pointed out.
