Kazakhstan is set to construct a new sugar factory in the Zhambyl region, which will be able to process 1 million tons of cane sugar annually. The project will be developed by K-Agro Holding and Baiterek Holding, as revealed during a government meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhumangarin, according to the government’s press office, reports Kazinform International News Agency.
This modernization is used to enhance processing capacity. It is also part of a broader strategy to reduce dependence on imported sugar and to start producing more sugar beet-based products in Kazakhstan.
As of today, there are four sugar factories in Kazakhstan.
