At the direction of Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister, Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparbayev visited the Zhetysu region to assess the readiness of two sugar mills for the upcoming sugar beet harvest, Kazinform News Agency reported, citing the Ministry’s press service.
During his visit, Minister Saparbayev inspected the Koksu sugar factory, which has a processing capacity of 2,500 tons of sugar beet and 300 tons of cane raw sugar daily. Last year, the factory produced 53,000 tons of sugar, with 23,000 tons processed in the past seven months alone.
In the Aksu district, the Minister also visited the Aksu Kant sugar mill, which can process 3,500 tons of sugar beet per day. Last year, the factory added a cane raw sugar processing line with a daily capacity of 400 tons. Since its commissioning in October, the factory produced 10,000 tons of sugar by the end of the year.
Kazakhstan is expecting a record harvest of 1.1 million tons of sugar beet this year. However, farmers in the Zhambyl and Zhetysu regions continue to face significant challenges related to sales and processing.
Before his visit to Zhetysu, Minister Saparbayev also toured enterprises in the Zhambyl region and met with residents to discuss these issues.
