Kenya farmers demand removal of Nzoia MD for not paying cane dues

Sugarcane farmers from Bungoma Country that have been in contract with Nzoia Sugar Company have demanded to remove the firm’s managing director who has failed to clear their dues.

The farmers under the leadership of Kennedy Kibeti have stated that they are reeling under financial burden as the MD Michael Wanjala has not released their dues.

“The company has harvested sugarcane from farmers in June 2020 but has not released any dues to the cane farmers. We are unable to communicate with the MD,” said Kibeti.

“We will launch an agitation for removal of the MD as he is never reachable for cane farmers,” he further added.
