The Kenyan government will release the names of the firms that have so far expressed interest in leasing the government-owned five sugar mills.
According to the media report, this comes about two weeks after governors from the Lake Region Economic Bloc called for the suspension of the leasing process to pave way for more consultations with relevant stakeholders on the privatization process.
The governors had stated that some issues should be sorted out before leasing else this would affect the cane growers in future.
Going ahead with the plan, the government would make public today the name of companies that are interested in leasing processes of Miwani, Nzoia, Sony, Chemilil and Muhoroni sugar mills.
