The Acting CEO of the Kenya Sugar Board (KSB), Jude Chesire, has been elected Vice-Chairman of the International Sugar Organization (ISO). This historic achievement marks the first time Kenya and Africa have held this position since the organization’s inception in 1968, according to a press release.
The election took place during the Council meeting on November 29th, 2024, at 1 Canada Square, Canary Wharf, London. Chesire will assume the role of Vice-Chairman for a two-year term.
The ISO Council is the highest decision-making body in the global sugar industry, representing 114 countries, including major sugar and ethanol producers such as Brazil, India, the EU, Thailand, the UK, South Africa, Australia, and many others.
Sanjeev Chopra, Secretary, DFPD, Govt. of India also delivered a keynote address at the 33rd International Seminar of the International Sugar Organisation in London on Sustainable Solutions for Sugar & Energy Solutions. His address revolved around the Sucro-Energetic World and the challenges in the sector.
