Kochi: Like many other states, Kerala is also now focusing on ethanol production.
Kerala finance minister K N Balagopal while delivering the state budget 2022 announced that the state government plans to promote the production of ethanol and light alcoholic beverages from agricultural products,
The government has made provision of Rs 2 crore for research work to produce ethanol from Tapioca in the budget.
Minister said, “Production of value-added products including Ethanol from fruits and other agricultural produces will be done, steps would be taken to produce light alcoholic beverages as well.”
It must be noted that the Central government has set a target of 20 per cent ethanol blending by 2025.
