Rohtak: Haryana government recently launched Atal Kisan and Mazdoor Canteen where sugarcane farmers and workers can easily access the lunch only in 10 rupees.
Cooperative minister Banwari Lal had announced that such canteens will soon be opened in all the cooperative sugar mills in the state and will provide jobs to the women members of the self-help groups. Whereas farmers expressed displeasure over non-functioning of the scheme in few mills.
Delegation of Kisan Sabha met Bhali Sugar Mill MD on Monday and spoke on several issues farmers are facing.
District secretary of Kisan Sabha Sumit Singh said, “We have several times raised the issue of clearing dues within 14 days of crushing cane and other important issues but the government is not paying heed to it.”
The Kisan Sabha also expressed resentment over not starting the scheme of giving food to the farmers in the sugar mill for 10 rupees.
