Shamli: Chaudhari Savit Malik, national president of Kisan Union, has demanded that the sugar mills should clear the pending cane dues on a priority basis.
“The coronavirus pandemic has put the farmers in a financial crisis. They need money to run their livelihoods and take up agricultural activities for the next season. The input costs for sugarcane cultivation has been increased and also there is no hike in cane price from the last few years,” he said.
Sugar mills claim Corona has affected their sales therefore they are unable to clear the dues. UP government have also asked mills to ensure cane arrears on time.
