Pune: Sugar mills in the Kolhapur division have produced around 252.76 lakh quintal sugar till March 9.
According to the sugarcane commissionerate report, the sugar mills in the state have produced 894.57 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 865.62 lakh tonne of sugarcane till March 9. Total 187 sugar mills have participated in the ongoing season and have achieved 10.33% recovery.
Kolhapur division has recorded the highest sugar production in the state by crushing 212.43 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery rate of 11.90%.
Total 37 sugar mills in the Kolhapur division were operating in this crushing season and out of these 2 mills have stopped operations. From the Solapur division, 41 sugar mills had participated in the cane crushing operations and till date, 25 mills have stopped operations.
