Kolhapur: Kolhapur region is leading in sugar production in the ongoing crushing season in the state, reports Agrowon.
Registering the highest sugar recovery rate of 11.12%, sugar mills in the Kolhapur region have produced 26 lakh tonnes of sugar this season. The Pune division is at second rank by producing 22 lakh tonnes of sugar at a recovery rate of 10.8%.
Sugar mills in the Solapur division have produced 20 lakh tonnes of sugar with a registered recovery rate of 8.95%.
145 sugar mills in the state have completed the crushing season till March 23, 2023. Whereas in the season, during the same period, 23 sugar mills had ended the crushing operations.
As many as 44 Sugar mills out of 50 in the Nagpur division have closed operations. In the Kolhapur division, 35 out of 36 mills have closed operations.
