Kushinagar: Demand to reopen closed sugar mill

Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh: Samajwadi Party (SP) workers protested at the Collectorate demanding the reopening of the closed Kaptanganj sugar mill and the payment of dues to farmers.

After the demonstration, a memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister was handed over to District Magistrate Umesh Mishra.

SP workers led by former minister Radheshyam Singh arrived at the Collectorate at around 11.30 AM on Monday raised slogans against the government and presented their demands to DM. Former minister Radheshyam Singh stated that Kaptanganj sugar mill owes farmers Rs 44 crore for sugarcane and Rs 9 crore to labourers. This has pushed farmers and labourers to the brink of ruin. He emphasized that the sugar mill should be reopened and the outstanding payments should be made in the interest of farmers and labourers.
