Lakhimpur, Uttar Pradesh: Farmers owe Rs 1,057 crore to the sugar mills in the district. Farmers allege that despite multiple notices, the sugar mills have not been paying to them. The mills holding the largest amounts are Palia, Gola, Khambharkheda, and Aira.
As per news report published in Live Hindustan, in response to the continued non-payment after notices, District Magistrate Mahendra Bahadur Singh has now issued a warning of action. Notices were issued to the sugar mills on Friday, and the DM summoned the chairmen and financial heads of these mills on Saturday. Action may be taken against them if payments are not made.
District Cane Officer Ved Prakash Singh stated that continuous notices have been issued to Palia, Gola, Khambharkheda, and Aira sugar mills for payment, but they have not yet paid the farmers. As a result, the DM has issued notices to these sugar mills. The DM has summoned the chairmen and financial heads of the mills on Saturday morning. It is reported that if payments are not made on time, actions may be taken against the officials of these mills.
