Laksar, Uttarakhand: Sugar mill in district is facing a shortage of sugarcane this year. This is even though the sugarcane area has increased by 11% from last year, reported Live Hindustan.
Consequently, mill has reduced their indent for sugarcane. Despite being the most profitable crop in the district compared to rice, wheat, pulses, sesame, and linseed, sugarcane cultivation continues to expand annually. However, a shortage of sugarcane has become apparent at the outset of the crushing season.
