Swaraj Green Power & Fuel, a company operating in the sugar and ethanol production business, has initiated the plan to set up an ethanol production unit with a capacity of 1,100 KLPD at Phaltan (Satara) in Maharashtra, reports The Financial Express.
The company will use technology supplied by Praj Industries and produce ethanol using sugarcane juice and Biosyrup as raw materials. The company will start operations with an initial capacity of 500 KLPD and would further increase capacity to 1,100 KLPD.
Once the company achieves this capacity, it will be the largest ethanol-producing plant in the country and Asia.
At present Swaraj is running a 60 KLPD capacity ethanol plant and has signed an agreement with Praj to expand capacity to 500 KLPD. The plant is expected to start operations by the third quarter of FY 2022-23.
