Lautoka mill will be the first to start sugarcane crushing season in Fiji

The Sugar Industry Tribunal has announced the dates when sugar mills in Fiji will start crushing sugar cane for the 2024 season, reported Fiji Times.

Lautoka mill will start on June 5, the Labasa mills on June 13, and the Rarawai mill in Ba on June 19. These dates were decided after consulting with the Fiji Sugar Corporation and Vimal Dutt, the CEO of the Sugar Cane Growers Council. Farmers are asked to deliver their sugar cane to the mills one day before crushing begins. The tribunal will announce when each mill will finish crushing after reviewing its performance in September.
