Roorkee: Giving respite to sugarcane farmers, Libberheri sugar mill has made payment to farmers of the cane procurement till January 20, reports Jagran.com. The mill has assured to clear the remaining cane bills by next week.
The mills are facing a scarcity of cane, therefore the mill administration asking farmers to send the remaining cane to the mill for crushing instead of sending it to the jaggery units.
Anil Kumar, chief manager of the sugar mill, has said that the mill administration has cleared the cane bills of the farmers till January 20. The mill has transferred around Rs 17.60 crore to the various sugarcane committees to distribute to the respective farmers. The mill will ensure to pay the remaining amount within the next ten days, he said.
He urged farmers to send clean and fresh cane to the mill for crushing so that it would helpto improve cane crushing and increase the recovery.
