Live water storage data in reservoirs as of June 13, 2024

Water storage in the country across the 150 reservoirs is 38.491 BCM as of 13th June. Last year the live storage available in these reservoirs for the corresponding period was 48.592 BCM, thereby indicating a shortfall in total water availability.

In the northern region, water available in the reservoirs is 5.721 BCM which is 29% vs 39% in the corresponding period last year.

In the Eastern region, total water availability in the reservoirs is 4.380 BCM which is 21% of the total live storage capacity of these reservoirs vs 19% in the corresponding period last year, continuing the trend of better availability than last year.

In the Western region, water availability in the reservoirs is 7.931 BCM which is 21.36 % of the total live storage capacity of these reservoirs vs 24% in the corresponding period last year, indicating a shortfall.

In the Central region, water available in the reservoirs is 12.891 BCM, which is 26.73% of these reservoirs’ total live storage capacity. In the corresponding period last year, water availability was 34%.

In the Southern region, water availability in the reservoirs is 7.568 BCM which is 14% of these reservoirs’ total live storage capacity vs 22% of the live storage capacity of these reservoirs.

In the previous week dated 6th June 2024, the total live storage available in these reservoirs was 7.114 BCM which was 13% of the total live storage capacity of these reservoirs. This could be attributed to the Monsoon rains that the Southern States experienced.
