Maharajganj: Sugar mill’s crushing resumes after six days, but technical snag persists

Siswa Bazar: Due to technical glitches at the Indian Potash Limited’s sugar mill unit in Siswa, operations at the mill had been suspended for six days, reported Amar Ujala.

As per media report, crushing resumed on Wednesday morning but halted again after running intermittently for three hours. The suspension has resulted in 566 loaded trucks standing idle in the yard. Following a meeting, arrangements have been made to transport the sugarcane to the Kharda IPCL sugar mill. Farmers are facing losses due to the delay, prompting calls for suitable alternatives from the mill management.

District Sugarcane Officer Omprakash Singh stated that efforts are underway to rectify the technical issues promptly, with an engineering team summoned for assistance. Sugarcane-loaded trucks in the yard are being processed through tokenization, with 3,000 quintals of sugarcane being dispatched to the IPCL sugar mill in Kharda daily. Farmers will be compensated for their losses, and gate fees will be reimbursed. Secretary of the Cooperative Sugarcane Committee, Premanath Pandey, advised farmers to halt sugarcane preparation until further notice. Once the technical issues at the mill are resolved, farmers will be promptly notified.
