Kolhapur: The sugarcane harvesting season in most parts of the state is picking up pace.
As of November 13, 103 sugar mills are operating and crushed 35 lakh tonnes of sugarcane to produce 23.43 lakh quintals of sugar. In a bid to obtain licenses for the 2023-24 sugar season, 217 sugar mills have submitted proposals to the Sugar Commissioner’s Office.
By Monday (November 13), the Commissioner’s Office had digitally distributed online crushing licenses to a total of 172 sugar mills for this year, including 80 cooperative and 92 private mills.
