Pune: Sugarcane crushing season has entered the final phase as around 122 sugar mills closed their crushing operations till April 14.
According to the state sugar commissionerate, a total of 190 sugar mills in the state have participated in the cane crushing operations and these mills have produced 1038.60 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 991.27 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery of 10.48 per cent.
43 sugar mills from Solapur, 35 mills from Kolhapur, 16 mills from Nanded, 14 mills from Pune, 7 mills from Ahmednagar, 4 mills from Aurangabad, 2 mills from Amaravati and 1 mill from Nagpur have closed their operations.
