Pune: As the sugarcane crushing season is in the final phase, around 156 sugar mills have closed their operations till April 22.
According to the data released by the state sugar commissionerate around 190 sugar mills participated in the cane crushing operations and these mills till April 22 have produced 1050.91 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 1002.81 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery rate of 10.48%.
According to the commissionerate, 43 sugar mills from Solapur, 37 from Kolhapur, 23 from Nanded, 25 from Pune, 14 from Ahmednagar, 10 from Aurangabad and 2 each from Amravati and Nagpur have closed their operations.
