Pune: As the sugarcane crushing season has entered the final phase, around 164 sugar mills have closed their operations till April 27.
According to the state sugar commissionerate total of 190 sugar mills participated in the crushing operations this season and have produced 1054.90 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 1006.02 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery rate of 10.49 per cent.
All the 43 sugar mills from Solapur division have closed crushing operations for the ongoing season. Apart from this 37 sugar mills from Kolhapur, 25 from Nanded, 27 from Pune, 17 from Ahmednagar, 11 from Aurangabad and 2 mills each from Amaravati and Nagpur have ended the crushing season.
