Pune: As many as 179 sugar mills in Maharashtra have begun the sugarcane crushing for 2020-21 season till 30 December 2020. As per the data released by the Sugarcane commissionerate, the mills have produced 391.49 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 413.44 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery rate of 9.47 per cent.
Maximum sugar mills (38) are in operation in the Solapur division followed by Kolhapur division (37).
Sugar mills in Kolhapur division registered above 11 per cent sugar recovery and mill in Pune division are close to 10 per cent sugar recovery.
