Pune: The sugarcane crushing season entered the last stage in Maharashtra with as many as 33 sugar mills completing cane crushing in the state. Total 187 sugar mills were operating in the state for the ongoing crushing season.
According to the report released by the sugarcane commissionerate, 25 sugar mills from the Solapur division have stopped operations followed by 3 sugar mills from the Kolhapur division.
In the Solapur division, 41 sugar mills had participated in cane crushing season whereas 37 sugar mills from Kolhapur were operating during this season.
As per the data released by the sugarcane commissionerate, the mills in the state have produced 906.89 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 876.36 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery of 10.35 per cent.
