Pune: As sugarcane crushing has entered the last stage, the sugar mills are closing their operations. As per the data published by the Sugar commissionerate, as many as 61 sugar mills out of 187 sugar mills in Maharashtra have closed their crushing operations.
Till 23rd March, the sugar mills from Maharashtra have produced 979.51 lakh quintal sugar after crushing 939.28 lakh tonne sugarcane. The sugar mills in the state have recorded a recovery of 10.43%.
As per the commissionerate, 33 mills from the Solapur division and 11 from the Kolhapur division have shut their operations.
