On Saturday, the Congress party announced its second list of 23 candidates for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections.
Among the candidates are Rajesh Tukaram Manvatkar from Bhusawal-SC, Swati Sandip Wakekar from Jalgaon (Jamod), Mahesh Gangane from Akot, Shekhar Pramodbabu Shende from Wardha, Anuja Sunil Kedar from Savner, Girish Krushnarao Pandav from Nagpur South, Suresh Yadavrao Bhoyar from Kamthi, Puja Ganesh Thavkar from Bhandara-SC, and Dalip Waman Bansod from Arjuni-Morgaon-SC.
The list also includes Rajkumar Lotuji Puram from Amgaon-ST, Vasant Chinduji Purke from Ralegaon, Balasaheb Shankarrao Mangulkar from Yavatmal, Jitendra Shivajirao Moghe from Ami-ST, Sahebrao Dattrao Kamble from Umarkhed-SC, Kalias Kisanrao Gortantyal from Jalna, and Madhukar Krishnarao Deshmukh from Aurangabad East.
Additionally, Vijay Govind Patil is set to contest from Vasai, Kalu Budheliya from Kandivali East, Yashwant Jayprakash Singh from Charkop, Ganesh Kumar Yadav from Sion Koliwada, Hemant Ogale from Shrirampur-SC, Abhaykumar Satishrao Salunkhe from Nilanga, and Ganpatrao Appasaheb Patil from Shirol.
This follows the party’s earlier release of its first candidate list, which included 48 names.
The Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance has outlined its seat-sharing plan for 255 constituencies, with each party receiving 85 seats. The remaining 23 seats will be distributed based on the individual party candidate lists.
Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole confirmed that the alliance partners—Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and the Nationalist Congress Party (led by Sharad Pawar)—will each contest 85 seats. Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut also affirmed this arrangement.
The Maharashtra Assembly elections are scheduled for November 20, with the counting of votes for all 288 constituencies taking place on November 23.
In the 2019 assembly elections, the BJP won 105 seats, Shiv Sena secured 56, and Congress claimed 44. In 2014, the BJP took 122 seats, the Shiv Sena won 63, while Congress had 42 seats.
