Mills in Maharashtra have achieved an average sugar recovery of around 10 per cent during the ongoing crushing season. As many as 194 sugar mills are engaged in cane crushing operations till January 23, 2022, which include 96 cooperative mills and 98 private mills. The mills have produced 657.09 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 659.06 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery rate of 9.97 per cent.
Solapur division is leading in the state with maximum (45) sugar mills operating during the ongoing crushing season. The mills have produced 140.83 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 156.59 lakh tonne sugarcane till January 23.
Kolhapur division is leading in the state with 178.94 lakh quintal sugar output by crushing 157.61 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery rate of 11.35 per cent.
In the Pune division, 29 sugar mills are operating during the ongoing crushing season. The mills have produced 135.79 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 133.74 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery rate of 10.15 per cent.
