Maharashtra: CM lauds sugar millers for paying highest FRP in the country

Nashik: Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has lauded the sugar factories in the state for paying the highest fair and remunerative price (FRP) to the cane farmers in the country, reports The Times of India.

The mills in the state have paid FRP worth Rs 42,600 crore to the farmers which was 98% of the total FRP due to the farmers.

He was speaking at the inauguration of the crushing season of Nashik Sugar Factory in the Nashik Road area on Friday.

Addressing the gathering, he said that the state is contributing a lion’s share in both sugar production and exports. “Of the total 60 lakh tonnes of sugar storage in the country, the state’s share is 30 lakh tonnes,” CM added.
