Sugar mills in Maharashtra have achieved an average recovery rate of 10 per cent during the ongoing crushing season.
According to the sugar commissionerate, a total of 194 sugar mills, including 96 cooperative mills and 98 private mills, have produced 683.61 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 683.34 lakh tonnes of sugarcane with a recovery of 10 per cent.
Kolhapur division is leading in the state in terms of sugar production and the highest sugar recovery. The mills in the region have produced 186.03 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 163.21 lakh tonnes of sugarcane with a recovery rate of 11.40 per cent.
Solapur division is leading in the state with maximum sugar mills (45) participating in the cane crushing operations. The mills have produced 146.21 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 162.07 lakh tonnes of sugarcane with a recovery rate of 9.02 per cent.
