Maharashtra produces 200 lakh quintal sugar so far

Pune, Maharashtra: Majority of the sugar mills in Maharashtra have started the crushing operations. Till December 6, 165 mills were engaged in sugarcane crushing and produced 200.34 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 225.94 lakh tonne sugarcane. The state has recorded an average sugar recovery of 8.87 per cent.

As of now, Kolhapur division is leading in the state with 36 sugar mills running this season. In Solapur division, 35 sugar mills have commenced cane crushing operations. Yet, in Nagpur division, no single mill started the crushing season.
