Pune: Sugar mills in Maharashtra have reported a 10 per cent sugar recovery rate in the crushing season 2020-21. The figures have been released by the state sugar commissionerate.
As many as 183 sugar mills have participated in sugarcane crushing for this season till February 3. These mills have produced 661 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 661 lakh tonne sugarcane.
Timely starting of cane crushing and the increase in sugarcane production will lead to higher sugar production in the state. Maximum sugar mills are operating in Solapur division (41) followed by Kolhapur division (37).
