Pune: Sugarcane crushing season in Maharashtra has entered the final phase and most of the sugar mills have closed the operations. After Solapur, Kolhapur and Nanded region, sugar mills from Nagpur and Amravati have also ended the season.
Total 3 sugar mills in the Nagpur region had participated in the cane crushing operations. The mills have produced 3.90 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 4.35 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery rate of 8.97 per cent.
In the Amravati region, 2 sugar mills have participated in the season and closed operations after producing 5.20 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 5.82 lakh tonne cane.
Out of 190 sugar mills from the state, 179 mills have completed cane crushing operations. The mills in the state have produced 1059.39 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 1009.61 lakh tonne cane with a recovery rate of 10.49 per cent.
