As the sugar season 2024-25 progresses, the sugar recovery rate in the Kolhapur division of Maharashtra has surpassed 10%, higher than the state’s average recovery rate.
In the Kolhapur division, the sugar recovery rate has reached 10.01%, whereas the state’s average recovery rate is 8.5%, according to the Sugar Commissionerate report.
As of December 26, mills in the Kolhapur division have crushed 70.06 lakh tonnes of sugarcane, producing 70.16 lakh quintals (around 7.01 lakh tonnes) of sugar.
Statewide, sugar mills have crushed 303.53 lakh tonnes of sugarcane, lower than the 395.36 lakh tonnes crushed during the same period last season. Sugar production has reached 258.14 lakh quintals, down from 347.16 lakh quintals in the previous season. The state’s overall sugar recovery rate stands at 8.5%, lower than last season’s 8.78% during the same period.
The lowest average recovery rate has been reported in the Nagpur division, at 6.21% in the ongoing season, where only two sugar mills are operational.
