Shamli: Dr Bakshiram, the inventor of the Co 0238 sugarcane variety, met sugarcane farmers in the Upper Doab sugar mill region and guided them regarding the growth of quality cane and to improve cane yield, reports Live Hindustan.
He asked the farmers to use pesticides and fertilizers to maintain the good health of the cane crop which would help in giving good cane yield and increasing recovery rate.
He said that the farmers that have taken up cane cultivation in April should use fertilizers and pesticides by this time and farmers that have taken up cane cultivation after wheat harvest can spray pesticides after June 15.
He visited Kudana, Goharpur, Banat and Badhev villages and spread awareness among farmers regarding cane cultivation.
