The equity benchmark indices closed in the red for the third consecutive day on Tuesday.
Sensex ended 166.33 points lower at 78,593.07, whereas Nifty concluded 63.05 points down at 23,992.55.
Within the Nifty index, several prominent companies, including Britannia Industries, JSW Steel, Tech Mahindra, HCL Tech, and LTIMindtree were among the top gainers. On the other hand, HDFC Life, SBI Life, Shriram Finance, Bharti Airtel and SBI were
among the top losers.
In the previous season, Sensex ended 2,222.55 points lower at 78,759.40, whereas Nifty concluded 662.10 points down at 24,055.60.
