Mumbai: Sensex on Monday was trading 81.65 points higher at 40,875.46, while NSE Nifty surged 25.35 points at 12,081.40 in morning trade.
Similarly, at 10:15 am, Sensex was trading at 40,886 points, and Nifty was trading at 12,074 points.
Bharti Airtel, Reliance, Tata Motors, HUL, IndusInd Bank Axis Bank, Infosys and TCS were among the top gainers.
TechM, ONGC, Bajaj Finance, PowerGrid, Tata Steen and Sun pharma were among the top losers today.
On the currency front, the rupee depreciated 4 paise against the US dollar to trade at 71.78 in early session.
