Meerut, Uttar Pradesh: After the sugarcane department asked millers to make cane payments at the earliest, sugar mills are taking steps to clear the dues.
Mawana sugar mill has cleared the cane bills of Rs 12 crore to the cane farmers that have sold their cane till April 1, 2021. The mill administration has sent the advice in this regard to the concerned cooperative sugar committees. With this, the total amount of cane dues cleared by the mill so far comes around Rs 525.43 crore, which is 81 per cent of the total cane dues.
Pramod Baliyan, senior chief manager (Sugarcane and Administration) said that the mill is using 85 per cent of the money it earns from selling sugar to clear the pending cane dues. He has urged the cane farmers to fill the online declaration forms as per the directions of the sugarcane department.
