Meerut: Despite receiving less sugarcane for crushing, sugar mills in district performed well this season due to increase in sugar recovery rate, reported Live Hindustan.
Despite purchasing 115.14 lakh quintals less sugarcane compared to last year, the mills have produced 4.96 lakh quintals more sugar.
The sugar recovery from sugarcane in the district increased by 1.10 percent compared to the previous season. Last season, the average recovery was 10.01 percent, which has now increased by 1.10 percent to 11.11 percent.
