Mahanagar Gas Limited is collaborating with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to set up a Compressed Biogas (CBG) plant having a capacity of 1000 tonnes per day (TPD) in Mumbai, reports The Economic Times.
The city gas distribution company will process segregated food and vegetable waste at its plant that would be set up on a parcel of land that BMC would provide.
The waste material, known as CBG feedstock, will be collected from restaurants, banquet halls, hotels and large vegetable markets/mandis in the city.
