Sugar production in Maharashtra has been ramped up as 189 mills are engaged in cane crushing operations. The mills have produced 440.25 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 456.15 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery rate of 9.65 per cent till December 29, 2021.
Solapur division is leading in the state with maximum (44) sugar mills participating in the cane crushing operations during the ongoing season. The mills have produced 95.48 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 109.31 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery rate of 8.73 per cent till December 29, 2021.
Sugar mills in the Kolhapur division have achieved more than a 10% recovery rate during the ongoing crushing season. The mills have produced 121.48 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 110.83 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery rate of 10.96 per cent.
