Chandigarh: Sugarcane farmers associated with the Sandhar Sugar mill, Phagwara will get pending cane dues worth Rs 22 crore as Agriculture minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal directed the owners of the mill to clear the dues, reports Hindustan Times.
He met the office-bearers of the Bhartiya Kisan Union (Doaba) and the management of the sugar mill and after discussing with them directed the owners on Monday to clear pending cane dues.
He asked the agriculture department to ensure that out of Rs 72 crore pending dues from the last three years, the mill owners should clear Rs 22 crore immediately by selling the property of the mill located at Bhuna, Haryana.
