Ponda, Goa: Still there is uncertainty over the functioning of Goa’s Sanjivani sugar mill. Former PWD Minister and Marcaim MLA Sudin Dhavalikar urged the government to revive Sanjivani sugar mill through the Central Government Scheme which has a provision of funding Rs 60 crore.
Speaking to media persons, the MLA said, ” The mill can get funding if brought under Agricultural department. I had discussed the issue with then chief minister Manohar Parrikar in 2018 in presence of Union minister Nitin Gadkari and then agricultural minister Vijai Sardesai.”
“Under this scheme, Sanjivani mill can get Rs 60 crore for revival and farmers should be encouraged to increase their sugarcane production,” Dhavalikar further added.
Recently, Cooperative minister Govind Gaude had stated that the state government will take a decision on the future of the Sanjivani sugar mill within two months. He was reacting to the reports which say that the sugar mill unit would be closed.
