Modi Naturals Ltd has inaugurated the construction work to set up its greenfield ethanol distillery at Raipur in Chhattisgarh.
The company plans to set up a distillery having a capacity of 210 KLD and a 6MW cogeneration power plant. The plant will be looked after by a wholly-owned subsidiary called ‘Modi Biotech Private Limited’ (MBPL).
MBPL has signed MoU with the Chhattisgarh government and has also received in-principle approval from the central government to set up a 210 KLD distillery for manufacturing ethanol.
The Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate change (MoEF&CC) has granted environmental clearance to the company.
The investment over the next two years is expected to be approximately Rs250 crore, with the first phase of 110 KLD with an investment of Rs160 crore, to be completed in the third quarter of FY 2022-23.
Akshay Modi, Managing Director, Modi Naturals Ltd. Said, “This would boost India’s target of achieving 20% ethanol blending by 2025. By increasing ethanol production we would be able to keep control on air pollution and help in generating employment apart from increasing income of farmers.”
