May NY world sugar #11 (SBK24) on Monday closed up +0.80 (+4.12%), and Aug London ICE white sugar #5 (SWQ24) closed up +10.10 (+1.79%).
Sugar prices Monday rallied sharply, with NY sugar posting a 2-week high. Concerns that excessive dryness in Brazil will reduce Brazil’s sugar output are boosting prices. Somar Meteorologia reported Monday that there was only scant rainfall last week in Brazil’s Center-South, the country’s main sugar-growing region.
