Muzaffarnagar: Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Minister Anil Kumar and RLD Legislature Party Leader Rajpal Balyan held a review meeting with officials on Friday at the Vikas Bhawan auditorium to discuss pending payments to sugarcane farmers. During the meeting, the poor payment record of the sugar mill in Budhana drew sharp criticism from the minister, reported Live Hindustan.
Minister Anil Kumar expressed strong displeasure over sugar mill’s failure to clear dues and emphasized that a payment schedule has now been established. He warned that strict action would be taken if the mill fails to adhere to the timeline.
The review covered all eight sugar mills in the district. Of these, seven mills were found to have made satisfactory progress in paying farmers. Out of the total dues of ₹3,150.39 crore, payments totaling ₹2,875.16 crore have been made — amounting to 91.26 percent of the total. Tikaula sugar mill was noted for having completed 100 percent of its payments for the current crushing season.
Budhana MLA Rajpal Balyan, former minister Yograj Singh, RLD district president Sandeep Malik, District Magistrate Umesh Mishra, CDO Sandeep Bhangiya, Deputy Cane Commissioner of Saharanpur O.P. Singh, and District Cane Officer Sanjay Shishodia attended the meeting.
