Muzaffarnagar: Two sugar mill workers killed as sugarcane-laden truck overturns

Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh: Two workers of a sugar mill lost their lives when a truck loaded with sugarcane overturned on them while entering the mill premises on Monday evening, according to the police, reported PTI.

The victims, identified as Mohanvir and Arvind Kumar, were workers at sugar Mill. The tragic incident happened when the truck, carrying sugarcane from the Sillajuddi purchasing center, was entering the mill compound.

Circle Officer Ramashish Yadav stated that as soon as authorities were informed, a police team rushed to the site and launched a rescue operation. The injured workers were taken to Begarajpur Medical College, where doctors confirmed their deaths.

“The bodies have been sent for postmortem, and an investigation is in progress,” Yadav said. The truck driver fled the scene, leaving the vehicle behind. Efforts are being made to track him down.”
