Mysuru: Sugarcane crushing operations at the government-run sugar mill Mysugar at Mandya will start before September 10, said Sugar Minister Shankar Patil Munenakoppa.
The minister visited the Mysugar mill on Sunday and reviewed the preparations done ahead of the beginning of the crushing season.
He said, “Necessary steps have been taken to ensure that the mill operates fully to its capacity. The technical and financial recommendations made by the expert committee to avoid wastage of money will be adopted to ensure that the mill earns a profit and stops incurring losses.”
“Once cane crushing starts at the mill, the government also plans to produce ethanol,” he further added.
